WHAT WE BELIEVE?

WE BELIEVE in ONE God eternally existing in three Persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - and sovereign in creation, providence, revelation, redemption and final judgement.

WE BELIEVE that the Lord Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh; we believe in His virgin birth. His sinless human life, His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension, His present mediatorial work in heaven and His personal return in power and glory to receive his people unto Himself to execute judgement and to reign as "King of Kings and Lord of Lords'

WE BELIEVE that Man who was created by God to worship and serve Him, is alienated from Him because of sin and is therefore under His Judgement.

WE BELIEVE that the salvation of man from sin and its consequences is entirely an act of God's sovereign grace, is not achieved by any meritorious works on man's part but is appropriated by him through repentance towards God and faith in (commitment to) Jesus Christ and in His redemptive work on the cross.

WE BELIEVE that it is the regenerating and sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit, who indwells the believer, that enables him to live a holy life pleasing to God.

WE BELIEVE that the Church, which is the body of Christ, consists of all who have been redeemed and reconciled to God through faith in Jesus Christ. It is a universal fellowship in which there is no difference based on race, social standing or sex. It is visibly expressed in local congregation of Christians (local churches) who meet regularly and relate to one another in a close fellowship.

WE BELIEVE that there will be a resurrection of both the just and the unjust the final judgement, the former to a resurrection of life and the latter to a resurrection of damnation.

WE BELIEVE that the Holy Scriptures (Bible) as originally given were inspired by God ("God breathed') and recorded by men who were "borne along" by the Holy Spirit's power and expressed the mind of God in words provided and expressed by Him; they are therefore the supreme authority for faith and life.

OUR PRACTICES

BAPTISM. We practise the initiatory rite of water-baptism by immersion as an indication of spirit-baptism (baptism with/ in the spirit) by which a believer is incorporated into the body of Christ and is identified with Him in His death and resurrection.

LORD'S SUPPER. We observe the feast of Holy Communion or Lord's Supper on the first day of each week (normally). As we believe in the priesthood of all Christians, our form of service provides for the free participation of all believers on an equal basis (consistent with all things being done decently and in order).

USING SPIRITUAL GIFTS. As we believe that all believers are endowed with one or more spiritual gifts by the Holy Spirit for the common good we encourage and endeavour to provide opportunities for the use of these gifts in Christian service both within and outside (where appropriate) the local church context.

CHURCH DISCIPLINE. We believe that for the effective functioning of a church there must be discipline. We believe that maintaining good order and discipline in the local church is the mutual responsibility of all its members with the emphasis on its preventive, corrective and exhortatory aspects. In the event of a grave breach of discipline, the oversight of the church will have to act collectively and overtly if necessary. All forms of discipline will be administered in accordance with the injunctions of Scripture.
